But the Dart GT has a considerably lower ride hight than the base model.
The Aero (like mine) seems to be lowered a bit too, though it's hard to tell in this picture. In person, it seems to split the difference between the standard SE and the GT. Without putting the GT and Aero right next to each other, I can't be sure if the drop in ride hight is the same or not. The wheels on the GT are sorta huge compared to my steelies, so they fill out the wheel well better as well.
I also just noticed this load of horse shit. It seems Chrysler decided to ditch the Aero's steelies and "aerodynamic hubcaps" for 2014 and replace them with aluminum 10 spokes. Thanks dickheads.

Eh...those rims are alright. Get yourself a set of nice rims and sticky rubber from Tirerack and use the steelies for winter.

That's the plan, but it would be nice if I got alloys for my $20k. My Focus had them at $18k.
It's not that they're nice wheels, but they look nicer than the steelies and I wouldn't be as compelled to get aftermarket wheels for it. Either way, this car needs some Potenzas on it. The Kumhos have no grip in the wet.

Agreed I hate when automakers chinse out on that kind of thing. Personally I want to get everything I want from the factory and be done. When you are married with kids its hard convincing the wife you "need" to drop $1500+ on rims and tires.

Amen to that. Plus it's a matter of even finding what you want. If I had the money I'd get BBSs and be done with it, but they're waaayyyy out of my price range. There's also the hassle of making sure they even fit.
At least I can install the tires myself, so there's that.

Yeah BBS rims are sweet, but soooo damn expensive. You know Tirerack will mount your tires to your rims no charge right?

I'm with you on the steelie hate. Hubcaps = never again!

Really? I can mount them and balance them myself at work so it's not really an issue anyway, but I did not know that.
I was also looking on EBay at a set of Giulietta wheels but I don't have money for anything until after Christmas.

I fucked one of mine up yesterday. I was coming into my driveway, and theres a short cinderblock wall separating my yard from my neighbor's and I'm at the bottom of a hill so I'm lower. I guess when I was coming into the driveway I put the passenger rear wheel on it and scraped it on the wall when I dropped off it.
Apparently some kid in an old Lexus ES also rear ended me when that happened. He was coming down the hill behind me and when I got out to see what damage I did, he pulled up to my house and got out apologizing. He said "oh I'm so sorry I thought you were making the left. Are you ok? I have a few scratches on my bumper. Blah blah blah" but I didn't see anything at all on the Dart and I was still trying to figure out what I damaged. Eventually I saw the hubcap, but that was obviously me and not him. I was (still am) so confused. I asked him what he was talking about and if he bumped me because I never saw, felt, noticed him until he got out. We didn't exchange info or anything and he just went on his way. There isn't so much as a mark on the Dart, just a spot on the rear black plastic fascia that looks like dry wax but I suppose could be a scuff if he bumped me lightly. My girlfriend and I are still confused about what the fuck happened.

I hate hate hate hate hub caps. Why in the world were they invented? Manufacturers should spend the extra cash for a decent looking steel wheel at that point, but more-so should always just use alloy wheels.
I can't imagine the cost savings are THAT huge on hub-cap wheels, and it is way the fuck easier to scratch them than actual wheels.

Man, steelies are so easy to bork, too. They're terrible in every conceivable way.

Is it just me or is the base model narrower?
